Update From Berks County - More Help On The Way

1. The IRS has hired 3,500 people to start answering questions over the phone about their Economic Impact Payments. The number is 1-800-919-9835. As of now, we are still not able to ask the IRS where an individuals EIP is so if there are specific questions please refer to the number listed above, or the link listed below.
2. The IRS has also started mailing out 4 million EIP prepaid debit cards instead of paper checks. They can check their card balance online and use a mobile app with no incurring fees. The card can also be used online and at the ATM or anywhere that VISA cards are accepted.
3. Berks County is launching an interest free loan program for small businesses (flyer is attached). Berks County small businesses can apply for a 0% interest-free loan with no payments for 24 months through the Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Berks website beginning on June 15, 2020.
a. Funding for these loans are from federal and local sources with about $2.3 million for these loans.
